U.S. POSTAL SERVICE HISTORY

The United States Postal Service (USPS), also known as the Post Office and U.S. Mail, is an independent agency of the United States government in charge of providing postal service in the United States. The USPS has exclusive access to letterboxes marked “U.S. Mail” and personal letterboxes in the United States, but still competes against private package delivery services, such as UPS and FedEx. It was started about 50 years ago. Today it employs over 600,000 employees with the breakneck of 200,000 vehicles and many thousands of other operatives under the control of the United States Postal Service.

It handles over a million letters and packages every single day. Every American depends upon the postal service for mail delivery. Even though it is facing competition in the domain by private counterparts, it is still the most trusted by the public for the task of delivering mail to Americans across the country.

  1. Trying to understand why my package in the still in transit. Are most of your workers out due to Covid-19?? That would be the only reason that it has not reached it destination.

This is actually a complaint why does the mail have to be delivered late in the evening around about 5.This actually started before the pandemic.I am in the condos on Hikes and Breckenridge. It used to be delivered earlier.

If I am adressing the wrong person just send me the correct info and will email them.

  2. Our August rent is still out there, hasn’t reach its destination. Mailed out, July 2020. It’s outstanding, not cash. Very stressful. Have to wait 30 days for refund from, Western Union. Lord! I pray, made this pandemic come to an end & we could go back to our normal lives, Amen!

  3. I waited in line a long time earlier this week at the Patterson/Gaskins post office in Henrico County, VA. There was only one postal clerk working then! No wonder the post office is having financial problems. Also, the post office lost 4 of my mailed checks last year and two mailed checks this year, which I had to put a “stop payment” on, which cost me. Also, the post office returned a check I wrote that was torn up in their machine. I’m one of the few who still pays bills via mail and not computer. However, your service sucks!

  5. Our PO facility employees do a good job. However, a priority mail package posted on Wed. Aug. 20 going to MA and supposed to have been delivered in 3 days is still showing it’s wandering around the KC area as of Aug. 27, 2020. If the PO wants more business, it’s going to have to start delivering on time. Obviously the PO can’t support its customers.

  6. The USPS is probably the most efficient and reliable federal agency. Congress (and the President and Mr. DuBoy) must be realistic and fully fund the postal service, and provide it with the latest and best equipment. Just several days ago the investigative reporter, Jeff (?) Rossen did a test and mailed 3 letters from Florida to New York, one by USPS, one by UPS, and one by FedEx. They all arrived on the same day, but the USPS cost was 55 cents, and the other 2 were around $12 ! It is absolutely essential that the mail remain a public service so that costs will always be affordable to the people and run as efficiently as it is now.
